Isaac Brock - guitars, vocals, (drums on "dog paddle") Jeremiah Green - drums, (bass on "dog paddle") Eric Judy - bass, (guitar on "dog paddle"). As a last thing, this is what he does at 4:48 in the song, What you do is you strike the chord really fast (tremolo-ish picking): e- B--10-- G--9-- D--11-- A- E

This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About" expands upon the themes of emotional and geographic isolation found in the band’s early recordings, and finds the band mixing slow, brooding numbers with thrashing guitar workouts. The general mood here is one of loneliness and desperation, eloquently expressed through both the lyrics and the rhythmic, sprawling instrumentation.

As the Modest Mouse reissue train keeps rolling, the sound on these pressings continue to be fantastic and this is no exception! BUT I do have to ask if anyone else has noticed these tiny glitchy type noises all throughout the pressings for both This ia a Long Drive and Lonesome Crowded West. I have a colored version and black version of both and I notice this on every one. It's not overwhelming like a pop and it's not indiscernible like crackling; it is the same exact sound that appears in the background of the sound stage and it is pretty clear in quieter passages.

Dramamine," for instance, with its driving, mid-tempo beat and ricocheting guitar line, sums up the hopelessness of a doomed relationship, while the frantic "Head South" deals with the feeling of "being ashamed of your old space. The mandolin, slide guitar, and cello featured throughout the album give the songs a certain degree of depth that makes them stand out from average indie rock fare.

I returned my copy to the shop I bought it from. Generally, the pressing isn't the worst, but it's nothing special. I didn't have a lot of noise like others have stated. The only real problem I came across was side D was pressed off center. Having been pressed at GZ in '14 it doesn't surprise me.

It isn't the biggest deal but it certainly is annoying after a while.

Beautiful. Sounds amazing.

Those tiny white bumps are probably paper from the sleeve, I have lots of records like that, and it never comes loose. If it causes skipping, I would ask for another copy. If you ordered from glacial pace they would likely oblige. Have you tried a very thorough cleaning with an alcohol based solution?

Does anyone else have tiny white bumps in their copy which seem to be embedded in the vinyl? They cause my stylus to skip pretty badly.
JOGETIME
Just recieved mine today, along with the 2 singles (color was a nice surprise), and I must say that they sound absolutely amazing. I have a pretty decent system, and these pressings were definitely made with care. As lo fi as these albums are, their analog warmth resonates through this analog medium more efficiently than any band in recent memory. I am do glad I just got an all tube preamp stage before these came. The sounds coming our of the speakers are simply beautiful!
Morad
I paid seperately for the singles, and I have no regrets because they are limited run color vinyl!
Hawk Flying
Did you have to separately order the singles or were they included in preorder with the albums?
Doomredeemer
I can't wait for this to show up in my mailbox!...The US version that is.
