Public Image Ltd. - Flowers Of Romance download album
The Flowers of Romance is the third studio album by English experimental rock band Public Image Ltd, released on 10 April 1981 by record label Virgin. The first studio album recorded following the departure of founding bassist Jah Wobble, The Flowers of Romance found PiL delving further into an experimental sound. Flowers was recorded mainly by singer John Lydon and guitarist Keith Levene, both of whom made heavy use of percussion and various tape and processing effects.

Incidentally, Public Image Ltd were actually an incorporated company. This professionalism was a big fuck-off to punk’s chaos that had camouflaged how lead singer John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten, the former lead singer of the Sex Pistols) was being ripped off by the Pistols’ manager, Malcolm McLaren, financially and emotionally. Lee would quit the band in 1982, while PiL goes on, still compelling today; but her tenure is immortalized on the LP cover. A red flower between her teeth à la Carmen, she appears to be about to bash the photographer with a blunt object-actually the pestle from then Vivienne Westwood stylist, Yvonne Gold’s kitchen.
As opposed to the axis of throbbing bass and guitar slashings of Metal Box, The Flowers of Romance is centralized on razor-sharp drums and typically haranguing vocals. No dubwise grooves here - bassist Jah Wobble was kicked out prior to the recording for ripping off PiL backing tracks for his solo material.
The Flowers of Romance.
Flowers of Romance then is a tricky album to pigeonhole. It features none of the features that made Public Image such a viable and strangely successful band, Jah Wobble is gone, instead leaving Keith Levene to take over any (extremely) minimal bass parts on the album, thus marginalizing Levene's own impact on the album, losing his influential and key sound, the wiry guitar of Metal Box. It does however feature all the things that make Public Image a great band, John Lydon's incandescent vocals somehow manage to seem enraged, twisted and blase at all times, his lyrics seemingly being.
