Queen recorded their first album during impromptu fits of downtime in London’s Trident studios throughout 1972, completing the album by November 1972. EMI (in the UK) took their time in releasing the album (along with Elektra in the . to the band’s chagrin: Queen finally came out in July 1973. Queen II took the band’s vocal harmonies to an unprecedented level of loud, embellished, over-dubbed vocal mastery, a signature sound of mystical and/or scary harmonies, on songs with astonishing screams ( Ogre Battle and The March Of The Black Queen ) along with beautifully rendered harmonic movements, unless these fell upon ears as annoying and overly-pretty, preciously overwrought absurdity, such as. the soft fairy-tale section of March of the Black Queen featuring theatrically angelic voices, whilst still maintaining a regal sensibility in their otherworldliness (or pompous excess?).

Queen II is the second studio album by the British rock band Queen, released on 8 March 1974. It was recorded at Trident Studios, London in August 1973 with co-producers Roy Thomas Baker and Robin Cable, and engineered by Mike Stone. The album is notable for its combination of a heavy rock sound with an art rock sensibility Queen II is not a concept album but a collection of songs with a loose theme running throughout.

Queen II - Queenpedia. com - A comprehensive Queen Discography, Queen Interviews, Queen History. Everything you need to know about Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. The most important thing to me was the Queen II album going into the charts - especially satisfying that, since the first one didn't do so well. It's nice to see some recognition for your work though I don't usually worry too much. Roger tends to worry more about what's happening on that side. Roger Taylor - May 1975, Record Mirror. I hated the title of the second album, Queen II, it was so unimaginative.

Listen free to Queen – Queen II (Procession, Father to Son and more). Queen II is the second album by English rock band Queen, originally released in 1974. It was recorded at Trident Studios, London, England in August 1973, and engineered by Mike Stone. The two sides of the original LP were labelled "Side White" and "Side Black" (instead of the conventional sides "A" and "B"), with corresponding photos of the band dressed in white or in black on either side of the record's label face. The album is also a loose concept album, with.

In one regard, Queen II does indeed provide more of the same thing as on the band's debut. Certainly, of all the other albums in Queen's catalog it bears the closest resemblance to its immediate predecessor, particularly in its lean, hard attack and in how it has only one song that is well-known to listeners outside of their hardcore cult: in this case, it's "Seven Seas of Rhye," which is itself more elliptical than "Keep Yourself Alive," the. big song from the debut.
