Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

Complete your Bob Dylan collection. Then from out of the blue, only four months after his release Self Portrait he ushered in New Morning. This was not an easy album to make, Bob burned an awful lot of bridges doing it his way, managing to totally alienating some of his oldest and strongest supporters such as Al Kooper, who said that once this release was done he wanted nothing more to do with the man. The album was basically released the way it was laid down, though there were countless overdubs that ended up never being used, just a waste of time and talent

Bob Dylan, then, is a frequently silly and jejune album, one on which the artist is still working out childhood demons, and doesn’t even – it would seem – have the vocabulary or craft to do so via his own songs. The album barely registered on the radar upon release, but went on to peak at on the UK charts in 1965. Producers John H. Hammond. Writers Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie Johnson, Bob Dylan & 8 more. Acoustic Guitar Bob Dylan. Additional Mastering Randy Mahon J. Ryan K. Smith, Shawn R. Britton & 1 more.

And indeed Dylan then got back to composing regularly with his country songs and the rural idyll that was New Morning. But in 1971/2 he had another slow down, writing four songs and some background music for Billy the Kid over a two year period. It was our first hint that occasional cessations of the creative flow could be expected. And surely for a genius like Bob Dylan it is better to finish on a high rather than bring out an album of songs written by Bob but which are generally thought to be not of his best.

Difficulty: intermediate. Now, a very great man once said That some people rob you with a fountain pen It don't take too long to find out Just what he was talking about A lot of people don't have much food on their table But they got a lot of forks and knives And they gotta cut something. So one morning when the sun was warm I rambled out of New York town Pulled my cap down over my eyes And heated out for the western skies So long New York Howdy, East Orange. edu/~dcushman/guitar.
