AFX ‎– Analord 08. Label: Rephlex ‎– ANALORD 08. Series: Analord – 08. Format: Vinyl, 12", 33 ⅓ RP.

Shop Vinyl and CDs and complete your AFX collection. Always found it unusual that this one wasn't that very well received. I think the whole EP is very good, but from the first time i heard W3. eadcode. A i thought it was one of my favourite of the Analord series and i still stick by that, along with Cilonen and Home Made Polysynth of course.

Analord is a series of eleven 12" vinyl records released in 2005 by UK-based electronic music artist Richard D. James, primarily under the alias AFX. The series marked James's return to primarily analogue equipment following his computer-oriented programming work in the late 1990s. After their release, James "distilled" the 3½ hour, 42-track series into the 10-track compilation album Chosen Lords (2006), effectively his first full-length release since the 2001 album Drukqs.

These insistent, repetitive analogue compositions are almost perversely anachronistic, a robot curled up in the fetal position rather than the conqueror of new colonies we'd once come to expect. The multi-layered beats of Drukqs persist, but the glistening melodies that set apart the Twin's finest work are, after burbling just beneath the surface of some early Analord tracks, all too infrequent in this batch

Analord 08. Critic Score.

Is it me, or has anyone else had their vinyl become damaged over time because of the plastic sleeve? Mine looks like it has water damaged, but it clearly hasn't. I've read oils in the plastic sleeves can affect the vinyl over time..
Bralore
yes me too. few tunes did this over the years. learned my lesson and now always replace sleeves with a more friendly inner (nagaoka 102) and outer (non pvc and non sticky).

Plastic (PVC) sleeves are pure evil, and will destroy vinyl over time.I'm sorry to hear that your AFX vinyl has been affected.
Gogal
Yes, this has happened to me too. The plastic sleeve and the vinyl make some chemical cocktail together. Apparently the Caustic Window compilation had the same problem too.
Gunos
do you store your records upright or laying down flat? They should be stored upright and not too tight. I replaced all of my sleeves to the diskeeper plastic sleeves. The analord sleeves feel like an outer sleeve.

Would any sell me the sleeve and sticker to this ill pay!!!!

"PWSteal.Ldpinch.D" is the Analord track that works best on the dancefloor... 4/4 Disco beat, soullful melodies.. There's even a clever break few minutes in that seems intended for mixing, perfect!!

The first track sounds like AFX gone 90's house! Very good disco/house tune but a tad dark with the melody that feels like it expresses lots of emotion but could still work for a DJ set at a club. The live clumpy drum sounds help make the track a nice stomper! Dare to mix this with Stardust or Daft Punk? I'd love to hear more AFX house tracks like A1 in the future as the next 3 tracks are all chilled out and have that ambient electro breakbeat drumming sound to them. B1 is the winner for me as it starts out very minimal but the synth sound on the main hook is so nice and relaxing sounding that for some reason it reminds me of something you would hear in an old Vangels song. You might not like these 3 tracks at first if you're just needle dropping the record around but you listen to them all the way from start to finish the appeal grows on you. There is no heavy 303 acid on this release except very faint in the background on the more ambient techno track B2 and you could also say there is no heavy sounding anything on this Analord except for track A1 really. Four great tracks in another chapter of this winning my money Analord series!

I don't like Analord 8(and the other Analords exept Analord 10) So...to begin the tracks all sound like they were made in 1990 and i consider that a BAD thing, i expect something way better from Richard D James..I mean take any track from Drukqs and compare it with any track from the Analord series and you'l know what i'm talking about! Just dull, dated, repetitive beats, i can make tracks like that in 1 hour easily. The one good thing are the synths, they are actually good / very good at times but still not what i expect from a man that is responsible for albums like r Richard D James album, Drukqs, and I care because you do, to name a few! The Analord series seem to be the midlife crisis of his career in my opinion....

i dont understand why you tellin people that you dont like the record....why critcize a record??? just dont listen to it....next time if you are speakin [email protected] say somethin more biutiful...thx and please send us some easily made tunes from you iam intent

why a strong reaction like that? It is just me expressing my reasons and nothing else.Yes i know about the gear, have some gear myself in the studio. And yes i use some vst's, does that make me a bad person? And i'm comparing music made by the same artist, not apples and oranges though.

99% of the time when people make a remark like "...i can make tracks like that in 1 hour easily" - It normally means you can't or haven't. Also, having a name like aphexfreak and then comparing apples (Aphex - Drukqs) to oranges (AFX - Analord series) only enforces your juvenile comment and attitude. If you don't like the Analord series, so be it - but save yourself the embarrassment and don't make comments that "you can do better". Are you even aware that this is produced on the ACTUAL gear, and not some $10 VST you probably downloaded?

The first track of this release starts off really nice and I liked it instantly. It has this familiar melody, but you just don't know where you've heard it before. What you do know is that it will give you the same feelings as the first track on AB5. The third track is actually the best one, but you might not notice it on the first listening. It has a fast beat over a lush synth playing in the background. A beautiful ambient piece. Track 2 and 4 are some nice fillers, but not memorable. Analord 08 is another great release from RDJ.

This record is really growing on me, the first track is one of the best tunes i've heard since... well Analord 7! As with all of his releases, it's his attention to detail that really blows me away. Sometimes it's not always that noticable on the first few listens, but there's loads going on in there. Great stuff, can't wait to hear the final parts!
