Aimee Mann - Bachelor Nº 2 - Or, The Last Remains Of The Dodo download album

Bachelor No. 2 or, the Last Remains of the Dodo (also shortened to Bachelor No. 2) is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Aimee Mann, released on May 2, 2000.

Backing Vocals – Buddy JudgeBass, Backing Vocals – Aimee MannDrums – John SandsElectric Guitar – Clayton Scoble, Jon Brion, Michael LockwoodWritten-By – Costello. Driving Sideways was produced and engineered at the Sound Chamber, with additional recording done at Aimee's house. Calling It Quits was produced and engineered. Nothing Is Good Enough was produced and engineered.

Yet Bachelor No. 2 is hardly a retread, having its own identity and flow; it's more intimate, a little more fragile, a little more craftmanslike - more like an Aimee Mann record, really. That, of course, is not a bad thing, especially since Mann has never sounded as assured as she does here, nor has she ever had a better set of songs. To call Bachelor No. 2 a masterpiece may be overstating the matter somewhat, since an album this unassuming (but not unconfident) is too intimate to be labeled as such, yet it isn't hyperbole to call it the finest record Mann has made to date.

Bachelor No. 2 makes good on the promise hinted at by Mann's work on the Magnolia soundtrack. In her mastery of sophisticated melodies and sly turns-of-phrase, Mann brings to mind a number of heralded composers. The only complaint to be lodged against Bachelor No. 2, other than its partially duplicated track listing, is the mid-tempo groove from which Mann rarely extricates herself. These songs are layered and soft-spoken, to be sure, but also confident and rewarding of multiple listens. They are the sound of Aimee Mann growing as a songwriter. Yet the album also features the sound of Aimee Mann grousing about being a songwriter.

God the packaging is just HIDEOUS!!! I can't bring myself to buy any of these "Original Master Recordings" because they ruined the album covers and trust me I do want that audible experience but, sheesh! Who the hell thought this design up?!! And the design itself is so dated looking, like from the 80's, yet these are not. Must have been some old dudes... always the old dudes... RETIRE! Go play GOLF and stop messing with the original aesthetic, image, world that is part of every great album!

WHY do they put that tacky "Original Master Recording" banner on the top! I hate when they put those releases out! GRRRRR!!!! Another LP RE is needed for this.

Couldn't agree more ! Tacky & useless. Let's hope for a reprint indeed !

I recommend vinyl version too, from original master tapes. High Quality. Recorded by Mo-fi.
