This Machine Kills from Goleta, California play hardcore in the vein of Born Against, Bread and Circuits and Tragedy. They have released records with Ebullition, Coalition and others. Their sound is a mixture of classic early '90s hardcore influences such as Merel and Iconoclast combined with a more modern screaming vocal assault (meaning frantic & bratty). Their lyrics are extremely political. Description taken from excerpts of Interpunk. com album descriptions).

But to compare This Machine Kills Artists exclusively to Stoner Witch and Lysol wouldn’t be accurate (or fair). The Melvins have gone through many different lineups and phases, so Osborne’s decision to stand completely apart under his own name for these songs is telling. And they do have their differences. Where a track like The Vulgar Joke might’ve gotten spread and droned out for a few extra minutes, this take keeps things succinct and punchy, and Osborne’s trademark bark is pushed toward the back and corners, into a strained, tooth-bared whisper. I came alive seething with ideas, he burns on The Blithering Idiot. Osborne is the kind of maniac who is equal parts scary and appealing. Though his acoustic side sometimes fails to highlight both, it never ignores either.
Only 4 left in stock (more on the way). Only 12 left in stock (more on the way). Buzz Osborne, the legendary grunge progenitor who has helmed the Melvins for thirty plus years, releases his debut solo full-length album, This Machine Kills Artists. This Machine Kills Artists is a different kind of animal. The magazine described the song as doomy, ill-angled and with the Beefheartian edge his band is renown for. Go Unlimited.
On one of This Machine Kills Artists’ best tracks, How I Became Offensive, Osborne picks at his instrument y, whispering sinisterly about how this is no time for violent music. One on hand, it’s a clever bit of self-subversion; on the other, it sounds like off-brand Ween
