Nearly every founding member of Pearl Jam appears on Temple of the Dog (including the then-unknown Eddie Vedder), so perhaps it isn't surprising that the record sounds like a bridge between Mother Love Bone's theatrical '70s-rock updates and Pearl Jam's hard-rocking seriousness. What is surprising, though, is that Cornell is the dominant composer, writing the music on seven of the ten tracks (and lyrics on all)

Temple of the Dog is the only studio album by the American rock band Temple of the Dog, released on April 16, 1991, through A&M Records. The album is a tribute to Andrew Wood, the former lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone, who died on March 19, 1990, of a heroin overdose. The album has been certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

Temple of the Dog was initially well-received by critics but barely sold. Then as grunge exploded and Pearl Jam’s Ten and Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger were selling well, A&M decided to reissue the record with Hunger Strike as a single. Temple of the Dog then was among the 100 top-selling albums of 1992 and reached one million copies. The supergroup would reunite on four occasions Soundgarden and Pearl Jam were around (helps that in 1998 Cameron became the drummer for both), and Cornell sung Temple of the Dog tracks both solo and with Audioslave. Temple Of The Dog was a collaboration between members of Soundgarden (Cornell & Cameron) and Mother Love Bone (Gossard & Ament), initiated as a tribute to Mother Love Bone's vocalist Andrew Wood who died of a heroin overdose in March, 1990 - two weeks before the release of MLB's debut album, "Apple". The group's one and only album also featured the first recorded appearance of Eddie Vedder, who contributes backing vocals on several tracks  . The self-titled Temple Of The Dog album was originally released in April, 1991 to very little acclaim and low sales. It was reissued later that year following the success of Soundgarden's "Badmotorfinger" and Pearl Jam's "Ten", and was marketed at that time as a sort of "grunge supergroup" project.

They did the whole album plus covers of Mother Love Bone plus Bowie and Sabbath among some others. They did 2 songs they didn't do on the first night which was great. They did River Of Deceit from Mad Season and a song called Missing that was never released anywhere.
