Mummers The FLK. MuMusic MU2323 (LP/CD, UK, September 5, 2015). Written, recorded and produced by The FLK; Mastered by Carl Rosamond; Photography by Steve Sharp. The FLK; Jack Orion, guitars; Lucy Ward ; Kate Riley ; Violet Hour ; The Cold Harbour Choir ; Rebecca Denniff.

Mummer is the sixth studio album by the English band XTC, released on 30 August 1983. It reached No. 51 on the UK album chart and No. 145 on the . Billboard album charts. The album title refers to a Mummers play. Working titles considered for the album were Fallen From The Garden and Fruit. It spawned three UK singles; "Great Fire", "Wonderland" and "Love on a Farmboy's Wages" (reached No. 50 on the UK singles chart)

The cow-masked duo have been playing their parts for a few years now and they show no sign of stopping. This being a collection of folk standards, the main theme of Mummers is death and dying and the various tale woven around these are recreated and performed with relish. From the off, it’s clear that bringing the age-old subject matter of mortality as entertainment into the modern age is going to be a difficult listen: ‘The Butcher Boys’ leads us inwards with drones provided quite literally with the sound of unmanned military aircraft over Gaza, accompanied by a cold, computerised list of dead heroes and villains. After such a downbeat introduction, anything and everything is fair game.

Listen to music from The FLK like Stick Stock Keys, We Know Where The Time Goes & more. Released anonymously? Check. Rumoured to be be The KLF? Check. Chock full of recognisable KLF tropes? Check. Sparking internet arguments about the veracity? Check. In the end, it doesn't really matter does it. It obviously has nothing to do with Drummond/Cauty, but debut 'We Know Where The Time Goes' is a great record. A kind of sample collage built around folk samples both obscure and renowned.

Ignore the fact this isn't the klf and it's rather ok. Mostly folk with a new spin on it. I just wish they wouldn't try to be the klf in promo material, it's an insult to the klf and their fans.
