Sugar Ray is a rock band from Orange County, California. The band formed in 1992 with the name Shrinky Dinx, later changing it to Sugar Ray after the boxer Sugar Ray Leonard. They originally were a funk metal band, however later releases abandoned this genre in favour of pop rock. Their debut album, Lemonade and Brownies, was released in 1995.
Sugar Ray is an American rock band from Newport Beach, California. Originally forming in 1986. They originally played rap-rock, with early singles like Iron Mic and Mean Machine. The band achieved mainstream popularity in 1997 with their more pop-influenced single, Fly. The song’s success led the band to shift its style dramatically to the more radio-friendly pop sound with their newer releases. Their best-selling album, 14:59, was released in 1999, and featured popular singles Every Morning, Someday, and When It’s Over. Popular Sugar Ray songs.
By their fourth album, Sugar Ray had developed a real ease to their music. Starting with "Fly," they no longer tried so hard to rock - they no longer tried to ape the Red Hot Chili Peppers - and began relaxing into a sun-kissed, laid-back groove, the kind of music where even the fast numbers powered by distorted guitars don't necessarily sound heavy
