The London Howlin’ Wolf Sessions’ is an album recorded with Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman on May 2–7, 1970 and released in August 1971 by Chess/Rolling Stones. Phil Upchurch – Bass On (1). Charlie Watts – Drums On (1 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9 – 10 – 11 – 12 – 13), Conga, Percussion On (8). Steve Winwood – Piano On (2 – 5 – 6 – 12), Organ On (8). Klaus Voormann – Bass On (2). Ringo Starr – Drums On (2). Jordan Sandke – Trumpet On (2 – 7). Dennis Lansing – Tenor Saxophone On (2 – 7). Joe Miller – Baritone Saxophone. PopMatters The final result is less than spectacular; while Clapton, Wattsand Wyman are clearly into the performance, Wolf himself sounds less than inspiredand Steve Winwood’s overdubbed piano is nothing short of distracting. It is telling that the piece ends on a fadeout.
