Björk - Homogenic download album

Homogenic is the third studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk. It was released on 22 September 1997 in the United Kingdom by One Little Indian Records and in the United States by Elektra Records. Produced by Björk, Mark Bell, Guy Sigsworth, Howie B, and Markus Dravs, the album marked the beginning of a new style for the singer, focusing on similar-sounding music combining electronic beats and string instruments with songs in tribute to her native country Iceland

Released September 22, 1997. This album juxtaposes the organic with the electronic, and was mostly produced and written by Björk with some help from Mark Bell, Sjón, Howie B, Guy Sigsworth, among others. These are the words that Björk used to describe Homogenic:, an, Contrast, Patriotic, Warrior, Confrontational, Green, Volcanic Beats, Iceland Octet, Active.

Björk's 3rd full-length studio album: ‹ Debut, Post, Homogenic, Selmasongs, Vespertine, Medúlla, DR9, Volta, Biophilia, Vulnicura, Utopia . Released on 22 September 1997 on One Little Indian in the United Kingdom and on September 23 on Elektra in North America. Homogenic embraced all of Björk’s most provocative contradictions. The main theme is the wish to rush headlong into a life lived to the fullest-an unbridled yearning for the sublime. The album followed suit. Trading the playful eclecticism of Debut and Post for distorted, hardscrabble electronic drums and warm, melancholy strings, it showcased a newly focused side of the musician while embracing all of her most provocative contradictions. By 1997, when she released Homogenic, Björk had been a familiar face to pop fans for a decade.

Before I bought Björk's third album, Homogenic, in an Our Price in Kent with some birthday vouchers, I had only ever listened to Michael Jackson. That's not an exaggeration. Call it blind fandom perhaps, but it felt weird not listening to MJ, like anything else was cheating. It is, at times, an incredibly confrontational album. For Björk, Homogenic was a return to her Icelandic roots; she wanted the beats to sound volcanic, for the strings and the lyrics to be almost comically epic, and for the album to be a modern take on Icelandic pop.

Listen free to Björk – Homogenic (Hunter, Jóga and more). I wanted to make it an honest record. Me, here, myself, at home. I asked myself if there is such a thing as Icelandic techno, and how it could sound. Very elementary and uncontrollable. But at the other hand, Iceland is incredibly modern; everything is hi-tech. The number of people owning a computer is as high as nowhere else in the world. That contradiction is also on Homogenic. The electronic beats are the rhythm, the heartbeat.

Björk’s sophomore effort, 1995’s Post, is the kind of album that would have made any other artist crumble under the pressure to top or even match its excellence. With Homogenic, Björk expressed and dissected her disharmony with the physical world by diving headlong into the metaphysical, and by doing so she took the groundbreaking sonics of the electronic maestros before her-808 State, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno and Stockhausen, whose influence can be heard on Post’s Headphones -and gave it living, breathing humanity.
