Cheetah is an extended play by British electronic musician Richard D. James, released under the pseudonym Aphex Twin on 8 July 2016 on Warp. The name is a reference to Cheetah Marketing, a British manufacturer of microcomputer peripherals and electronic musical instruments in the 1980s (such as the MS800 namechecked in two of the EP's track titles).

In true Aphex Twin style, the EP reaches for and finds higher ground on the electronic music plain. We probably should have expected as much.

Reviews about Aphex Twin - Cheetah EP (73):
Especially after the release of Collapse, I feel this is a nice, low-key listen after the chaos that is the Collapse EP. Also, give side A a good listen on 45 rpm, though the original speed is nice too. My pressing has no defects that I can tell too.
I love this EP, I think it's the best thing he's released since the 90's, though one of the tracks is awfully similar to Pissed up in SE1 from Analord 2 but that's not a bad thing. Thanks Richard!
A solid low-key acid EP from RDJ. Nothing mind blowing, just one of those eps it’s nice to have and forget about, then re-discover every few years. Enjoying it more now than I did at the time, post-Syro.To my ears it sounds fairly obvious that side A is 45 rpm and B is 33 rpm. I know it’s techno so theoretically can be played at any speed, but you can still tell when a track sound too fast or slow to have come out of the various machines like that, especially the drums on side B which sound fake at 45rpm.
That's a horribly ugly record cover in my opinion. Mr James really does enjoy taking the piss!
You're aware of inspiration for the cover, correct? See the image below if not:http://www.electronicbeats.net/app/uploads/2016/06/cheetah-e1466517980653.jpg
Brilliant stuff. But, what's the "right" speed?! Works absolutely perfectly at both speeds, well done RDJ
"Cheeta1b ms800" and "Cheeta2 ms800" are actually the tracks I enjoy the most on this release. Because they are short maybe.
Love this release full 33 ⅓. rpm. Never really bothered to play it 45 rpm. Perhaps a time when I'm fed up with 33 ⅓. rpm. Not gonna happen I guess.
Daniel, there's just no talking to the 33/45 crowd. If Warp released a low-fidelity Aphex Twin shellac 78 RPM single, you can be fairly certain they would buy an old four speed turntable and play it at 16 RPM. Which would actually be kinda cool with something like KTPA1&2. Dammit! Now I have to emulate that for fun.
I didn't expect it to be anything special, but Side A is actually amazing at 45. Give it a try!
I absolutely love EP's that work on both the 33/45 speed spectrum. This works perfectly on both ends. Genius again from the master. As a sidenote, the artwork package for the vinyl is sublime. Less is definitely more in this case.
i like this ep better on 45 rpm :-)
Gets better with time I must say! a a a
Besides the excellent music from RDJ, there's also the superb artwork which really only works with the 12"!
Please play the A side at 33rpm and relax ;)
Buy steal or borrow, this is deep stuff. My favourite track CheetahT7b, old skool Ney York Chicago Aphex Twin. I nearly cried , there's time yet!
An excellent release by RDJ - Cirklon3 (Колхозная Mix) is hands-down the stand out track for me - can play on a repeat loop its that good!
Program at 45 rpm.Function at 33 ⅓. rpm.No, the other way around.Or both at 33 ⅓ rpm.No, both at...........wait a minute.(I bet Richard is having a jolly good laugh)
no words to this amazing work from Richard i love this ep i have take the neddle on the vinyl and i have feel so good this its music from outer space ....class stuff !!
It´s a good - pretty good - EP! I like it very much!
Is it supposed to come with a sticker or something? Mine didn't, bought sealed on a local store.
Some stores had stickers to give out as promotional items but it was not included in the package it was a separate item.
The sticker was in the package Bleep sent, not in the sleeve of the actual record.
I believe that only orders which were placed directly with Warp Records and Bleep are equipped with stickers.
As a relatively newer Aphex Twin fan starting at 'Syro' onwards, I have to say this release is my favorite that I own thus far.
You should try Come To Daddy. Songs Film and IZ-US.
Has anyone got any warping? I has some rippling on side b. Really annoying.
its from warp. so it has to be a feature! :^)
Yeah, got the same . At least on Cirklon3 song.
Yeah I got that problem too. Very sad I am.
