Lady Soul is the twelfth studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin, Released on January 22, 1968, by Atlantic Records. The album was her second R&B chart-topper, the follow-up to Aretha Arrives and included some of her biggest hit singles, "Chain of Fools" ( Pop), and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" ( Pop), and "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" ( Pop). It eventually sold over a million copies in the United States alone.

At a 1968 concert in Chicago, Aretha Franklin was publicly and officially crowned the Queen of Soul in front of her fans by a DJ named Purvis Spann. This body of work shows why Aretha continues to reign supreme.
