Tom Spacey is all that and a bag of weed. For the first 22 minutes, the music drones mildly, melding vocals, guitar, drums and Hammond organ to create a fantastic spaced-out landscape. This part of their debut recalls the Verve's first release, A Storm in Heaven. Unfortunately the album should have stopped after "Antares. What remains for the middle is horrid Pink Floyd rock - not the psych-driven Syd Barrett Floyd, either

Kevin Spacey in Tom Odell's video for 'Here I Am' ( Press image ). It feels like Tom Odell's come back out of nowhere after his much-hyped debut, but really he never left. Spending two years since Long Way Down's release on a fairly solid spate of gigs, he's since put out its follow-up, Wrong Crowd, which made it to over summer in the UK Official Chart. It's incredible fun, and working with George Belfield on the videos we’ve made for this album has been one of the most exciting creative relationships I’ve ever had. "George and I started planning the 'Here I Am' video around 4 months ago. We wanted to continue the story of the previous videos we’ve made but with a new character.
The present album already saw Bowie move away from gritty Rock as such and towards the Funk and Soul that would culminate in the terrible Young Americans album. A more slick production and the presence of Pop tunes and Saxophones. Another thing that brings this album down is the presence of cover songs. Ziggy Stardust" Quite similar to Tom Petty or perhaps Steve Miller, this is yet another simple, easygoing acoustic rock song. Hang On To Yourself' is similarly upbeat, portraying the Spiders from Mars as they console Ziggy. The title track is another of the album's peaks, and is a very sad song about the alien rock star's decline. Suffragette City' has a Roxy Music feel to it, but it's only a mediocre rock and roll song (the synth bass line is cool though).
