This is a recording of Barcarolle, from "Tales Of Hoffmann" by Offenbach. It features my two favourite female singers of all time, the soprano Annie Rees and the contralto Violet Oppenshaw. Both singers appeared on the legendary Zono Minstrels recordings of 1913, five of which are featured on this YouTube channel. This track was recorded on 15th August 1913, the very same day that the two singers recorded my all-time favourite music track, "Far, Far Away" by the Zono Minstrels. I uploaded a copy of this track on Christmas Day last year, but the record was in extremely poor. He is joined by Eleanor Jones-Hudson on Sullivan's "There Was A Time", from the Gondoliers. That recording is also on this channel.

Ernest George Pike (1871 – 4 March 1936) was an English tenor of the early 20th century. After studying at the Guildhall School of Music in London, he worked as a bank clerk and sang as a church tenor before making his first recording "Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes" for the Gramophone & Typewriter Company in 1904. He became the house tenor for HMV and made several hundred records in a career that spanned over twenty years.

Eleanor H. Porter: Pollyanna. Pollyanna: Polly Harrington's day is filled with duty. Her worthless sister has died and left an orphan to be supported. Polly's neice, Pollyanna, arrives to the small town and small changes happen immediately. Polly's servants are more chipper. The sick in the town are feeling better. Even the miser, John Pendleton, is uttering pleasant words. What mysterious power does little Pollyanna have over the town-folk? What dark secrets are hidden in Mr. Pendleton and Aunt Polly's past, and what will happen to the town if Pollyanna.
