Different back cover layout to Elvis Presley - No 2. Fully laminated flipback sleeve XT tax code around hole. To me the epitome of Elvis' recording career and arguably his best, most creative recordings are firstly the 'Sun Sessions' and the RCA sides recorded and released in the period 1956-59. This, his second LP offering contains twelve absolutely classic and legendary tracks. From the impatient urgency of 'When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold' to the tragedy of 'Old Shep' there is an array of three beautiful ballads with nine rockers.

4. Long Tall Sally Lyrics.

So a lot was unsettled and untried at the first of two groups of sessions that produced the Elvis Presley album - it wasn't even certain that there was any reason for a rock & roll artist to cut an album, because teenagers bought 45s, not LPs. The first of Elvis' RCA sides yielded one song, "Heartbreak Hotel," that seemed a potential single, but which no one thought would sell, and a few tracks that would be good enough for an album, if there were one. But no one involved knew anything for sure about this music

Elvis Presley proved that a rock album could not only sell, as teenagers generally only invested in '45s in those days, but it could outsell the singles from its own and any other genre. More importantly, though the correlation is hardly incidental, it established a degree of vocal primacy on a genre not yet blessed with a number of great singers.

It was like the world went from black & white to Technicolor," says Keith Richards of the emergence of Elvis Presley in the mid-'50s, and this look at the King's first official album (the legendary Sun Sessions weren't issued in album form until well after the fact) backs up that claim. The one-hour program (plus 40 minutes of bonus interview material on the program) combines performance footage (the early TV shows are not to be missed), photos, and more to limn Presley's early days, when he combined country, blues, and R&B to forge a unique, galvanizing.
