During their first five years they recorded sessions for local and national radio and released several records on Factory, Factory Benelux and Aural Assault. They toured in the UK and Europe, both as headline act and as support to Joy Division, Killing Joke and Section 25. Crispy Ambulance broke apart in 1982, with the members pursuing other projects. In 1999, the band reformed for a gig in Manchester to mark the re-release of two earlier album titles on the LTM record label. Two further studio albums followed.

Piccadilly Radio 1980. A re-master of the original Piccadilly Radio session from Frozen Blood, taken from the original studio master tape, which was originally thought to be lost.

Frozen Blood (1980-1982). Starting with the long out-of-print second single Unsightly & Serene, the core of the release consists of two radio sessions, one for legendary . DJ John Peel and another for Piccadilly Radio. Both are notable as together they contain six songs never officially recorded or released elsewhere by the group.

Crispy Ambulance are an English post-punk band, formed in Manchester in late 1977 by Keith Darbyshire (bass), Robert Davenport (guitar), Alan Hempsall (vocals), and Gary Madeley (drums). They had been inspired by the Sex Pistols' second gig in the Lesser Free Trade Hall and the bands Magazine and Hawkwind. The band played their first gig on 1 January 1978 at the Spurley Hey Youth Centre.

This is a rare and very costly release. For Crispy Ambulance fans who (like me) cannot possibly afford to buy it, it is worth knowing that the tracks from this studio recording are available as Tracks 7 - 10 on 'Frozen Blood'.
