Al Stricklin, a pianist for Bob Wills's Texas Playboys, died Wednesday in a convalescence home. He was 78 years old. One of Mr. Stricklin's best-known piano solos was on the Wills recording of ''Take Me Back to Tulsa,'' a tune that dates from the Texas Playboys' most productive period, in the 1930's and early 40's. He worked on nine albums with Mr. Wills and his country and western group. Mr. Stricklin returned to prominence as a member of the reunited Bob Wills's Original Texas Playboys
