Mona Bone Jakon was dominated by images of death, but the album was also about survival and hope. If Stevens was working out private demons on Mona Bone Jakon, he was well attuned to a similar world-weariness in pop culture.

Reviews about Cat Stevens - Mona Bone Jakon (6):
Yla
Barely played brown A&M original US third album, notable for the emergence of Cat Stevens' distinctive voice; a rich, variable baritone...prior to recording this album, Cat had become disillusioned with the music nusiness, then became seriously ill with the tuberculosis and spent a year convalescing...he returned with a folksier, more reflective, and emotionally straight forward sound...3 of the songs "Trouble", "I Wish, I Wish" and "I Think I See The Light" were featured Hal Ashby and Colin Higgins' black comedy "Harold And Maude". It features one of Peter Gabriel’s rare non-Genesis appearances before he launched his solo career in 1976…it also contains the wonderful wolrdwide megahit called "Lady D'Arbanville."

Fantastic singer songwriter album that transcends the restrictions of temporal identification.

Hi does this record usually have the lyrics on the inner sleeve

sheldongoldstein24 I have had a first pressing of this for years and it has the lyrics written in blue pen in Cat's hand printed on the inner sleeve. I have never seen another one like it. Is yours the same? My original Canadian pressing, found second hand, comes with that same printed inner sleeve.https://www.discogs.com/Cat-Stevens-Mona-Bone-Jakon/release/616687
