Solange - A Seat At The Table download album

A Seat at the Table is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Solange. It was released on September 30, 2016, by Saint Records and Columbia Records. While recording the album, Knowles released an EP, titled True (2012) and launched her own record label named Saint Records. Writing for the album began as early as 2008, while the recording sessions took place from 2013 to June 2016.

A Seat at the Table is Solange’s third studio album, released September 30, 2016 through her own label Saint Records and Columbia Records. She announced the album’s release just three days before its due date. In a statement, Solange described the album as a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief and healing. She has reportedly been working on the project since 2013.

Complete your Solange collection. The vinyl is really quiet, but I wish more care would've been taken with the mastering, especially when it comes to Solange's vocals. If the sound they were going for was mid-range, pre-'80s production, they got it (and that's totally okay, punk vinyl records have that sound, and it's perfect for their stuff).

Solange Knowles turned 30 in June, and it seems clear that her Saturn Returns manifested in an artistic surge.

A Seat at the Table is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Solange, released on September 30, 2016 by Saint Records and Columbia Records. The album features collaborations with Lil Wayne, Sampha, The-Dream, BJ the Chicago Kid, Q-Tip, Kelly Rowland and Kelela, among others.

A Seat at the Table can be a bit monotone. Solange’s True EP had a wide assortment of sounds and a greater sense of color that this album’s dour chords and redolent horns can’t quite match. That said, ultimately there’s something refreshing about Solange’s dreary, almost funereal compositions. Earlier in her career, Solange defined herself by what she was not.

To offer someone a seat at a table is to include them; to make their thoughts, feelings, and opinions valid. For Black Americans, struggling through an election filled with racist rhetoric and a news cycle dominated by the killing of unarmed Black men and women, it often feels as if we'll never be offered a seat without conditions.

The album by Solange A Seat At The Table will be released globally on September 30th, 2016 via Saint Records, Columbia. A Seat At The Table was written and produced by Solange and has been a work in progress since 2013, the year after the release of her seven song EP, True. Solange describes A Seat At The Table as a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief and healing.

Reviews about Solange - A Seat At The Table (15):
Prinna
The vinyl is really quiet, but I wish more care would've been taken with the mastering, especially when it comes to Solange's vocals. If the sound they were going for was mid-range, pre-'80s production, they got it (and that's totally okay, punk vinyl records have that sound, and it's perfect for their stuff). The vocals and bass feel really compressed on a song like "Cranes in the Sky," where every element should really stand out and feel dynamic--like you can hear various parts floating in and out of the track. This is one of the greatest soul records of the 2010s, so I hope someday someone makes the effort to give it the vinyl mastering it deserves. (I'm not just being stingy. Check out the Amazon reviews for the vinyl version of this album, and most are two to three stars or less. If you compare this version to the Spotify high quality streaming, that version also sounds much less compressed, and better than this purple vinyl pressing.)I know this is a digital-era album, and we shouldn't expect too much, but if you compare the compressed sound of this album to a similar-era record like Janelle Monae's "Electric Lady," the differences are night and day. Someone could've taken the time at Colombia to make Solange's voice sound like she is singing right to you on the vinyl.
Centrizius
Mine sounds fantastic on the purple wax. Not a single extra noise to be found.
Cyregaehus
I've seen more purple versions at Urban lately, so they might have done a second pressing. Worth a look if you want the special edition. Mine plays perfectly.
Sharpbringer
I have owned the purple pressing and the standard black pressing and the standard press is FAR superior to the purple edition... Very noisy pressing on the purple one sadly...
Linn
I also have both (purple and black) and cleaned both on my Okki Nokki, there’s no discernible difference to my ear. I’m using a RP3 Turntable with an Ortofon Blue cartridge.
Iaiastta
Anyone have a rating on the pressing? Love the color but haven't heard anything on how it sounds
Xal
Yup.. its an excellent pressing. Get it while you still can!
Wiliniett
Great pressing! My copy sounds dynamic with no surface noise.
Nalme
any word if these are still available or are they sold out already? tried to put in an order and it got cancelled immediately.
Qumenalu
You are correct. I ordered, mine said it was black, but just like you said, the purple vinyl arrived yesterday. :-)
Cala
I created this sub and my order confirmation email stated black, though I ordered the purple online. Arrived as purple vinyl, so I'm sure it's just the confirmation or shipping email color glitch. I wouldn't be concerned, so long as if you order and the listing states purple vinyl.
Kerry
Mine said black in the confirmation email as well but was indeed purple as the description listed initially. Don't be concerned, it'll be purple.
Insanity
I picked one up at Urban Outfitters yesterday and there was some more there as well.
Trex
Im now concerned this is whats going to happen with my order. I ordered the purple vinyl, and my order confirmation receipt shows a purple vinyl album, but the color description says black. if it arrives and its black vinyl, i'll return it.. but I'm waiting to see.
Walianirv
interesting. i ordered mine Jan 3rd and it's currently in transit!
