Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (Live) download album

Produced by Trent Reznor. Album The Downward Spiral. I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything. What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know Goes away in the end You could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt. Hurt is the last song on Nine Inch Nails’s most popular album, The Downward Spiral, released in 1994. The track is riddled with fuzz, distortion, and choppy audio while Trent Reznor’s voice softly flows over the accumulating noise. The instrumentation is meant to provoke nausea as the bending of guitar strings and the hammering of distorted drums increase to the end.

It was released on April 17, 1995 as a promotional single from the album. The song received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Song in 1996, but ultimately lost to Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know".

The song was brought back to its original form during the Lights In The Sky tour in 2008, before returning to the toned down style on the 2009 Wave Goodbye tour.

The weekend marked the 25th anniversary of the Nine Inch Nails album The Downward Spiral, from which Hurt is from. Mumford & Sons obviously wanted to pay honor to the world-renowned album with a cover of their own. You can check out a video of the cover below. And if you’re interested, you can listen to the original song here. Also, Mumford and Sons are not the only musicians who have covered Nine Inch Nails to show off their fandom. Recently, Lady Gaga covered a I’m Afraid Of Americans by the band and David Bowie at her first show at her Las Vegas residency. The idea came from Marvel, who approached the band about the collab. The idea behind it is that the main character Carol (Brie Larson) wears one of the band’s t-shirts throughout the film.

Reznor lived in the Los Angeles home where the actress Sharon Tate used to live, and where she was one of the victims in the Manson family murders (Reznor didn't know she used to live there when he rented it).
