Andante quasi allegretto. Giuseppe Sinopoli, Dresden Staatskapelle. 3. Scherzo (bewegt) - Trio (Nicht zu schnell. Keinesfalls schleppend).
Sinopoli's Bruckner No. 5 has all the rhetorical grandeur necessary for an outstanding performance of this composer's music, but it also has a degree of detail rarely encountered. Under the baton of Giuseppe Sinopoli in this concert recording, I am unsure if any of these elements are most important. To me, this recording has no point of view whatsoever and is perhaps the clearest view to the score itself.
Symphony No. 7. Anton Bruckner Composer. Giuseppe Sinopoli Conductor. Staatskapelle Dresden. Composer or Director: Anton Bruckner. Label: Teldec (Warner Classics). In his new Dresden recording for DG, Giuseppe Sinopoli takes a more integrated view of the work than Barenboim. If anything, the Dresden orchestra plays better for Sinopoli than it does for Blomstedt. Certainly, in terms of a clear realization of the score's inner and outer detail, this is the best of the three new recordings,.
