The Musings of Miles is the first 12" LP by Miles Davis, issued by Prestige Records in 1956, following several LPs in the discontinued 10 inch format. Part of the rhythm section of this quartet is the nucleus of the group that later became known as Miles' First Great Quintet.
This is early MILES DAVIS and for the pure jazz fans. Although I wouldn't call THE MUSINGS OF MILES the most essential of releases by one of the greatest musical entities of the jazz world, namely MILES DAVIS, I really love to dig deep into the vaults to hear the evolution of his music since he was one of the greatest innovators of constantly changing it up from one album to the next . This album finds him at the point before he would form his first classic quintet which would be created shortly after the recording of this album and this is one of the few albums where MILES is the only horn player.

Information on Miles Davis.
Biography by William Ruhlmann. The epitome of cool, an eternally evolving trumpeter who repeatedly changed the course of jazz between the 1950s and '90s.
Miles Davis began sketching pieces for multiple keyboards, with rhythm-patterns drawn from funk, but coloured by his old partner Gil Evans' approach to layering, harmony and texture. Bitches Brew was released in 1970, and became one of the biggest-selling jazz album in history - a landmark revisited with ted commemorative packages on its 40th birthday this year. Miles Davis's albums usually sold 60,000 or so - this one made half a million
