The Stone Roses are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1983. One of the pioneering groups of the Madchester movement in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the band's lineup consists of vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani and drummer Reni. The band released their debut album, The Stone Roses, in 1989. The album was a breakthrough success for the band and garnered critical acclaim, with many critics regarding it as one of the greatest British albums ever recorded.

The Stone Roses were a masculine band, but even amid the meatiest guitar solos they never stooped to being macho, and whenever they expressed admiration for women it was as an equal partner. 5. This Is the One. You could pick 10 of the 11 songs from the debut album and declare them the Stone Roses’ best, but that wouldn’t capture the breadth and underrated quality of their B-sides, standalone singles and later work (and it would mean leaving out the essential Fool’s Gold). The Stone Roses made a stunning debut, then bled out in a slow agony of contractual disputes, internal discord, and, eventually, public indifference (though their sophomore release and swan song, Second Coming, is nowhere near as bad as people say). More prosaic than drugs or young death, this trifecta killed a career that now essentially consists of just one great record. But the story of The Stone Roses is really a tale of two records, divided by an ocean

The Stone Roses are an Alternative Rock band from Manchester, known primarily for being the Trope Codifier for the Madchester movement in the late eightie. The sessions for a new album finally commenced in 1993 but were repeatedly hampered by personal turmoil, culminating in Leckie's departure and the relocation to Wales with engineers Simon Dawson and Paul Schroeder. The album, entitled Second Coming (AKA the "I like i. album), was finally released in 1994, seeing the Stone Roses break from their colourful, psychedelic dance-rock and moving towards a heavy blues-rock sound patterned after Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.

Their first album, unoriginal as it is, is the greatest pop/rock/whatever album ever released. 11 songs, all of them superb. I doubt any other album has that return. Reply Notify me 8 Helpful.
