Gabin (pronounced gæ'bæn) is the Italian based duo of Filippo Clary and Max Bottini. Their name is a reference to the most popular French actor of the ’30s and ‘40s- Jean Gabin, a classic world-weary screen antihero. It has now been two years since the release of their self-titled debut album featuring the international hit "Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap".

Gabin (French: ) is an Italian pop band consisting of Massimo Bottini and Filippo Clary. Their name is a reference to the most popular French actor of the 1930s and 1940s – the antihero Jean Gabin. Gabin have collaborated with numerous jazz artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Edwyn Collins and China Moses. Their first album, Gabin (2002), includes the singles "Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap", "Sweet Sadness" and "La Maison".

Gabin, named after iconic French film noir star Jean Gabin, offers some jazzy house, with an unmistakable European flavor -- and it’s not just the singing in French and Spanish, either. “La Maison” and “Azul Anil” are obvious crowd-pleasers, with smooth deep beats and melodies that instantly transport you to a Mediterranean beach party. “Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap” takes the chorus from Ella Fitzgerald’s “It Don’t Mean a Thing If You Ain’t Got that Swing” and loops it into a house stomper. As well, Gabin explores their downtempo side with “Urban Night,” perfect for late, late night strolls under the streetlights. Not all of the songs are entirely successful, but the majority are -- and that’s good enough for me to buy my ticket!
