Dare to Be Stupid" is an original song by "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is a musical pastiche (or "style parody") of the band Devo. Lyrically, the song dares the listener to be stupid in various ways; mostly by advising the listener to do the opposite of common idioms (. let the bedbugs bite" or "put all your eggs in one basket"), with the occasional absurd non sequitur (. stick your head in the microwave and get yourself a tan").

Produced by Rick Derringer. Album Dare to Be Stupid. Dare to Be Stupid Lyrics. Put down that chainsaw and listen to me It's time for us to join in the fight It's time to let your babies grow up to be cowboys It's time to let the bedbugs bite. You better put all your eggs in one basket You better count your chickens before they hatch You better sell some wine before its time You better find yourself an itch to scratch . Weird Al’s pastiche of Devo is among his most well-known non-parody songs – while it’s an exploitation of the band’s sound, and the video clearly pokes fun at Devo’s visual style, there isn’t a specific song being lampooned ( Big Mess is the one closer to Dare to be Stupid ). Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh stated in reaction to the song

Dare to Be Stupid" - Weird Al Yankovic. Get this album or track at: 3:27. Now immortalized by Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights, "The Touch" is the epitome of driving 80's anthem rock and Bush's other track, "Dare" is similarly catchy and silly (with a really slick arrangement by Vince DiCola). Weird" Al Yankovic contributes a fun track ("Dare to Be Stupid" from the same-titled album) that spitballs a series of clever lyrics about being stupid (ironically enough). The rest of the pop tracks are a variation of tracks by Spectre General ("Nothin's Gonna Stand in Our Way" and "Hunger") and NRG.
