The Golden Era of Dixieland Jazz, Vol. 1959. The second of two LPs, this long-out-of-print Design LP features cornetist Rex Stewart, trombonist Vic Dickenson, clarinetist Buster Bailey, pianist Marty Napoleon, bassist Arvell Shaw and drummer George Wettling performing six typical Dixieland standards ("High Society," "South Rampart Street Parade" and "Jazz Me Blues"), along with a blues and "Late Date. The music is spirited, and the talented veteran musicians sound happy to be playing together. Both volumes in this series are recommended to Dixieland fans.
