Ashra - New Age Of Earth download album
New Age Of Earth (CD, Album, RE). Caroline Records. Brilliant spacey Kosmiche noodling from the unabashed hippies, released right into the maelstrom of Punk. Later Ashra stuff would veer too close to Pink Floyd for my liking, but here they make a thrilling ambient statement with the requisite 70's guitar noodling and moog sound. If Steve Reich made an ambient album, with guitarwork, then it may very well sound like this. I play this all the time, and it comes up fresh every time- always a good pointer. Highly recommended, and an early ambient pathfinder.

While originally released under Göttsching's name and Ash Ra Tempel in 1976, the releases that followed in 1977 and onward were under the name Ashra. It was the first album to be released under the name Ashra. Although a solo album by Manuel Göttsching recorded after the dissolution of his band Ash Ra Tempel, Ashra later evolved into a full band. It was released in 1976 on Isadora Records.
This is ASHRA's first album called "New Age Of Earth". The obvious difference between ASH RA TEMPEL and ASHRA besides the number of musicians, is that with ASHRA Gottsching has turned to the Electronic style of music not unlike TANGERINE DREAM. He certainly began that on his "Inventions For Electric Guitar" album. Initially recorded in 1976, "New Age Of Earth" is undoubtly an important album in the development of electronica. Furthermore, there is no real relation with the New-Age philosophy.

This title is more prophetic than most - though thankfully, New Age of Earth isn't quite as bathetic as any number of releases on Windham Hill; by this point, Gottsching was well into his electronic phase, the jam freakouts of the earliest albums replaced by a clean, crisp electronic bed. Unlike the rigorous pulse of fellow Krautrock pioneers Kraftwerk, though, Gottsching generally favored a more consciously playful and simply beautiful approach, aiming to create pleasant music to just enjoy and relax with
