Reviews about John Digweed - Re:Structured (2):
Got this for Christmas....Santa, you git! I looked at it briefly when I unwrapped it and it seemed to an interesting concept album at first glance. Now I don't know what it is. It seems to have no point. I saw "original structures" and then "Re structures" so I thought I was maybe it was about comparing originals with remixes, which would at least seem to be going somewhere. The music is mostly poor. The live CD dosen't do anything for me. I've been consuming Digweed for 22 years, so I expect quality. Why so much Techno? I like Techno but it sounds like Adam Beyer, not Digweed. I read the sleeve notes hoping to get inspiration or a concept...nothing! There's a track on it which is far to similar to Hardtrance Acperience. Thankfully, Santa also brought me Guy J's "The trees, the sea and the sun", so I have something great to listen to.
Found 90% of these tracks very boring. Its almost like they are trying to be as minimal as possible. There isnt much progression in any of the tracks, you get to hear the "hook" within a minute or so and it just repeats and builds maybe with reverb and cutoff filter/release combo. Only tracks i would actually play are Nick Muir's remix of trezzz... montels remix of beautiful strange, luca's remix of candyland, sian's remix of tangent, and MAYBE joeski's remix of santiago. What happened to proper progressive!? 2.5 / 5
