Paul McCartney retreated from the spotlight of the Beatles by recording his first solo album at his home studio, performing nearly all of the instruments himself. Appropriately, McCartney has an endearingly ragged, homemade quality that makes even its filler - and there is quite a bit of filler - rather ingratiating
McCartney is the debut solo album by English rock musician Paul McCartney. It was issued on Apple Records in April 1970 after McCartney had resisted attempts by his Beatles bandmates to have the release delayed to allow for Apple's previously scheduled titles, notably the band's Let It Be album.
I really like in case I have been able to find uncommon foreign pressings; in this case the CD album of "Memory Almost Full" from India as stated at the back inlay. In some countries the disc came with a additonal sticker at the cover; in this case they printed the "sticker" directly on the cover inlay ;-) All The Best. The Paul Mccartney Discography Project. I´m busy preparing the next volume of the McCartney 7" discography. We reached 1973 - a massive WINGS year with the smash singles "My Love", "Live And Let Die" and not to forget "Helen Wheels". This volume is by far the thickest book and full of different releases, variations and rarities iland EP incl.
The resulting press release contained a number of additional questions written and answered by McCartney, in which he laid bare the cracks within The Beatles and Apple Corps. He was only supposed to write out information explaining how he made his album. Instead he hands us this interview with himself asking questions such as would he miss Ringo. Q: Is this album a rest away from the Beatles or the start of a solo career? A: Time will tell. and not being done with the Beatles means it's just a rest. Q: Is your break with the Beatles temporary or permanent, due to personal differences or musical ones?
