The final album of the ‘classic’ lineup of Motörhead (consisting of Lemmy, Eddie Clarke and Phil Taylor). It was their follow-up to the live album No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith, which had reached in the UK charts the year before. Clarke had produced the album with little experience in the field, which might explain the rough feel of the songs. The Iron Fist album was bad, inferior to anything else we’ve ever done. There are at least three songs on there that were completely unfinished  . I swear on my mother’s grave, I didn’t want to produce Iron Fist! I’d produced the first Tank album and producers all wanted 10 or 20 grand – from a band that were on two hundred quid a week. Why should we pay some cunt that? I didn’t want to play and produce.

Released in 1982, "Iron Fist" sees Motörhead fully grasping their place in the hard rock/heavy metal world. By this time, hardcore punk and the very first seeds of thrash were already evident in the British music scene. Bands like GBH, The Exploited and Discharge weren't afraid to show their loyalty to Motörhead and Venom wanted to be just like them with a Satanic angle. It's no coincidence that "Iron Fist" was the band's most intense, brutal and fastest album to date. Iron Fist’ is a weaker album from the band and is in the unenviable position of being sandwiched in between many superior albums, its sad that Eddie’s swansong in Motörhead is a tad patchy, ending the era with a whimper. So damn heavy it hurts! - 99%.

Another first-rate Motörhead album - the fifth in a row, to be precise - Iron Fist is the final one to feature the band's classic lineup, as guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke would depart following the album's completion. Released in 1982, Iron Fist is mostly distinguished from its predecessors in terms of production, and not favorably. Clarke produced this album himself, whereas industry veterans Jimmy Miller and Vic Maile had respectively manned Motörhead's past four albums.

Reviews about Motörhead - The Iron Fists (1):
I'll have to mark 'Grexit' down for this release as the Newcastle show has been edited back together from an old mp3 file. Shame really as all the other releases I own are excellent.
