Kenso are an Japanese progressive rock band formed in 1974.

Kenso biography Founded in 1974 - Still active as of 2017. The music combines a Progressive jazz-rock or a Progressive rock mixed with jazz. The emphasis is on performance and improvisation with complex themes, breaks, elaborated developments and arrangements remind HATFIELD AND THE NORTH and BRAND X. The musicianship is excellent. My selection of KENSO is limited to two CDs: "Kenso III" & "Yume No Oka". Fifth Studio album (sixth overall, excluding, Self Portrait, a compilation) from the Kenso band that is now still a quintet but revolving around guitarist Shimizu and keyboardist Oguchi, the rest of the members having changed since the early 80's' line-up.
