A largely forgotten collection, The One and Only Waylon contains some tracks that really deserve a better fate. Accompanied by the Waylors on the majority of the tracks, Jennings delivers a set of concise, tasteful, more pop-oriented songs. Most of the cuts are covers, and some, like Johnny Cash's "You Beat All I Ever Saw" and the Roy Orbison classic "Dream Baby," work pretty well. Bobby Womack's "It's All Over Now" sounds a little awkward and doesn't seem to fit quite as well.

Waylon Jennings – Waylon Arnold Jennings was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Jennings began playing guitar at eight and began performing at 14 on KVOW radio and his first band was The Texas Longhorns. Jennings worked as a DJ on KVOW, KDAV, KYTI, in 1958, Buddy Holly arranged Jenningss first recording session, of Jole Blon and When Sin Stops. He is widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and one of the music artists of all time. Although primarily remembered as an music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of multiple inductions in the Country Music, Rock and Roll and he traditionally began his concerts with the simple Hello, Im Johnny Cash, followed by his signature Folsom Prison Blues.
