Dream Theater - When Dream And Day Unite download album

When Dream and Day Unite is the debut studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on March 6, 1989 through Mechanic/MCA Records. The album is composed mainly of material that originally surfaced during the band's early years as Majesty, and is the only Dream Theater album to feature Charlie Dominici on vocals, as James LaBrie replaced Dominici as the lead vocalist on subsequent albums.

Complete your Dream Theater collection. Quietly unleashed upon the world in 1989 to approximately no fanfare, radio airplay or any kind of recognition, 'When Dream and Day Unite', the debut album of progressive metal band Dream Theater, was the birth of a legend that approximately nobody saw coming. It's a debut that has garnered mixed reactions since its release, despite the bands later successes.

Of the four tenets of Dream Theater’s sound (Progressive, Metal, Melodic and Pop) the album definitely favors Progressive and Metal, with no ballads and only Status Seeker having a strong pop sound. The album is seen as fast, complex and heavy and compared most often to Rush, Iron Maiden and Queensrÿche. Until the release of The Astonishing in 2016, it was also the only Dream Theater album not to have a track longer than 10 minutes. Due to the very small budget and amount of time allotted to create it, production was rushed by Terry Date, and the sound of the album was hindered greatly.

Their 1989 debut When Dream and Day Unite is, thankfully, more worthwhile than any of their other material, with few sections that are actively irritating and some that are even marginally enjoyable. It is a very groundbreaking and somewhat influential album - which in this case means the heaps and heaps of modern prog bullshit to come in the years ahead. But it's a much heavier and, dare I say, an even more technical Rush if at all.

Dream Theater is one of the most successful artists in the progressive metal scene. After releasing their top selling album Images and Words (1992) they became known to a wider public. To date they has sold over 13 million records worldwide. 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Includes insert with song lyrics.

VERY breifly... quite simply MUCH better than the original; Review by MrDreamTheater2 accurate - although I think he MAYBE meant to write HUGE! AAA+++

I'm specifically reviewing the 2002 Limited Edition Remaster by One Way Records. Get this if you can find it, because it's a YUGE improvement over the original mix. Much more clarity, but also more punch, to everything. If you have a low opinion of this album, hearing the remaster might change your mind, but that being said, Charlie Dominici was definitely not the guy for Dream Theater. I mean, he does amicably for the most part, but there are sections like the falsetto high note on Killing Hand which showcase his limitations relative to K.J. LaBrie.
