In the Fading Rays of Sunlight Although solidly within the time-honored tradition of piano-bass-drums jazz trios, Event Horizon, the Mark Wade Trio’s 2015 debut recording, was quickly heralded as something refreshingly different. The success of Event Horizon landed Wade a spot as one of the top 10 bassists of 2016 in the Down Beat Readers’ Poll. In the short months between the recording of Event Horizon and its February 2015 release, Wade began writing some of the seven thmically challenging original tunes, as well as unique arrangements of two standards, that now comprise Moving Day, the trio’s follow-up CD.
Bassist Mark Wade takes the art of the trio to brilliant new heights with his debut recording Event Horizon. Working with trio-mates Tim Harrison, piano, and Scott Neumann, drums, Wade shines as an instrumentalist, composer, and bandleader. I always loved listening to great piano trios, the Queens, New York-based bassist says.

based Mark Wade makes himself heard on a fluid, oozy bass that is neither superfluous or ordinary on his debut trio album, Event Horizon. His trio with pianist Tim Harrison and drummer Scott Neumann leaves lasting memories on the nine-track, Feb. 17, 2015 release on Mark Wade Music imprint. This is no throwaway album. Every original song, plus that one classic cover of If I Only Had A Brain from the movie, The Wizard Of Oz, counts. There’s something going on in each instrumental, with each instrumentalist, that keeps the listener from getting bored or restless
