Depeche Mode - Speak & Spell download album

Speak & Spell is the debut studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was released on 5 October 1981 by Mute Records. It was the band's only album with Vince Clarke, and as a result, is much lighter in tone than their subsequent releases. The album peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, and was ranked number 991 in the 2000 book All-Time Top 1000 Albums.

Speak & Spell is Depeche Mode’s debut album. It got recorded in the year 1981 and released on October 5, 1981. The whole album got recorded at the Blackwing Studios in London. The album got re-released on CD in 1988. He wanted to be in control. That’s the only album where the songs had already been performed for a year and a half beforehand, and we went into the studio and recorded them as we would live. I think Daniel saw us as a cross between the Ramones and the Beach Boys, in an electronic way – fast and short with really simple riffs. We were courted by major labels and were very suspicious of signing a deal that meant five albums.

Speak & Spell is the debut album from the British synthpop group Depeche Mode, recorded and released in 1981. The album peaked at in the UK Albums Chart. Overview This was the only Depeche Mode album with Vince Clarke as a member of the band. Clarke wrote most of the songs for the band, before departing to form the synthpop duo Yazoo with Alison Moyet. The album is significantly lighter in tone and melody than their later work, a direction which can largely be attributed to Clarke's writing

On October 5th 1981, Depeche Mode released their debut LP Speak and Spell-their only full length album featuring Vince Clark in the band, who would later go on to form Yazoo and Erasure. The album is significantly lighter in tone due Clarke’s writing- which changed when Martin Gore took over songwriting duties from A Broken Frame onward. The track Photographic has an alternate version appears on the Some Bizarre Album, due to that track being recorded first and ultimately with the help of Some Bizarre Records owner Stephen John Pearce, led to the signing with Mute Records, after a good word.
