The Mavis's are an Australian rock band formed in Ballarat, Victoria in 1987. Founding mainstays are Becky Thomas (. Beki Thomas, Beki Colada) on vocals and keyboards, her brother Matt Thomas on guitar and vocals (. Matt Doll) and Andrea Vendy on drums. They were joined by Nick Gill (. Nik Daniel) on guitar in 1990, and Josh Alexander on bass guitar in 1994.
Spindrift was recorded live at the Empress Hotel by Dave Nelson and was mixed, produced by David Nelson and Paul Barker at Nelsonics. All song written by Matt Thomas except Track 1 - lyrics by M. Thomas, Music - G. Stables, Track 2 - lyrics M Thomas, Music - Mavis's. Released in a slimline CD single with double printed inner sleeve.

The band originally formed in Ballarat, Victoria, where they became well known in local music venues. The band comprises of Matt Thomas (guitar/vocals), Becky Thomas (vocals), Nick Gill (guitar), Andrea Vendy (drums) and Josh Alexander (guitar).
Their growing popularity saw the Mavis's sign a deal with Mushroom's White label in 1995, and their next single, "Moon Drone Gold," was released in December. The band's debut album, Venus Returning (July 1996), reached number 33 on the national chart and contained the singles "Box," "Thunder," and "Lost. Thunder" was voted number 92 on national youth radio network Triple J's 1996 Hottest 100 list. A more mature album than their debut, it contained their second single and biggest hit, the pop-driven "Cry," followed by "Lever" in June. 'Cry" peaked at number 13 nationally and attained gold status in Australia (over 35,000 copies sold), while the EP, Cry Remixes, debuted at number 12 in April. The Mavis's then re-recorded the Pink Pills track "Puberty Song" for release as a single in November.
The Mavis's formed in a country town called Ballarat outside Melbourne, Australia in 1987. Consisting of brother and sister Matt and Becki Thomas and school friends Andrea and Kath. Still underage they made their first recording appearances on Melbourne Underground compilations 'Screaming at the Mirror' volume 1 & 2. Then. They were joined by Nick on guitar. 1992 a live ep called 'SPINDRIFT' was released. 1994 the ep 'POSEIDON' was released and and they were awarded an APRA songwriting award for the song 'ROCKETING'. By this time they had a growing cult following in the Melbourne pub scene. 1997 they released thier second gold selling album 'PINK PILLS' which spawned the hits 'NAUGHTY BOY' and their gold selling hit 'CRY'. PINK PILLS entered the Australian charts at number 12 and the band was nominated for four ARIA AWARDS and won an APRA award for 'CRY'.
