Gong - Flying Teapot (Radio Gnome Invisible Part 1) download album

Flying Teapot is the third studio album by the progressive rock band Gong, originally released by Virgin Records in May 1973. It was the second entry in the Virgin catalogue (V2002) and was released on the same day as the first, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells (V2001). It was re-issued later in the year, with different cover art, by BYG Actuel in France and Japan.

Tracklist: 1. Radio Gnome Invisible, 2. Flying Teapot, 3. The Pot Head Pixies, 4. The Octave Doctors And The Crystal Machine, 5. Zero The Hero And The Witch’s Spell, 6. Witch’s Song, I Am Your Pussy. 1. Radio Gnome Invisible. 3. The Pot Head Pixies. 4. The Octave Doctors And The Crystal Machine.

The following cut, "Flying Teapot," is the sprawling highlight of the album. At times reminiscent of some early Weather Report jams, though not as jazzy, the tune features prominent bass, standout percussion/drums, and space whispering courtesy of Smyth. Improvisational groaning and percussion bring this jam to a close. Pothead Pixies" is a fun pop (pot?) tune which probably received very little, if any, airplay due to the lyrics, followed by Blake's brief synth interlude, "The Octave Doctors and the Crystal Machine.

Gong's 1973 Flying Teapot is a landmark album of the era's European prog/space-rock scene, marking the band's shift from open-ended post-psychedelic journeys to more elaborately structured compositions. This was the opening salvo in their famed Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy; as such, it makes the most of mastermind Daevid Allen's wit and whimsy. With a quirky, lighthearted, Bertrand Russell–inspired narrative revolving around benevolent beings from outer space, Gong come off like a space-rock Monty Python

First album from wellknown Gong trilogy "Radio Gnome Invisible". Starting from here, you can listen real Daevid Allen's Gong sound in it's best. The music is still quite different in styles, but much more focused, and generally could be named "space jazz-rock". With Flying Teapot, Daevid Allen and company have given us the first part of the infamous Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy. While it's not the introduction of the saga (look to the previous album, Camembert Electrique, for that), it's the album I always consider to be the first full-fledged, full-concept album dealing with the Radio Gnome Invisible storyline which continues on and off throughout Gong's massive catalog.

Released by BYG in 1977, not 1973. (By 1972, BYG had ceased production in France and no new product would come out until 1974 and then only in Japan)
