I Nearly Made It. Companies, etc. Manufactured By – Quality Records Limited. I actually didn't mind the debut LP (1974) while under the Wednesday moniker. Sadly I still have memories of seeing these guys live in Toronto during the late 70's, by which time they oozed cheese. yet fitting just the same. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Nearly Made It. Wenzday - 1977. 9 songs, 34 minutes 44 seconds. I Was Built for Comfort. Release Date.

Artist: Wednesday (as Wenzday). 1974 Last Kiss, 1976 Loving You Baby, 1977 Nearly Made It. Label: Sussex, Skyline Records. Genre: Rock, Pop-Rock. They released their debut album (also known as LAST KISS) on the Ampex Tape company's record label in the spring of '74. Rather unusual was the fact side one was five covers, including remakes of Van Morrison's "Gloria" and "Roses Are Red" made popular by Bobby Vinton. Though the band was criticized by some for sounding too much like fellow-Canadians Fludd and Motherlode, before long "Last Kiss" and "Teen Angel" both peaked inside Canada's Top 20.

And the album is really cool

Why do I still own this? I thought I sold it at a garage sale 20 years ago!Very mediocre (bordering on lame?) Canadian mid-late 70's rock...glam meets generic pop rock is the best way to describe this LP. You can tell these guys are OK players, but the weak/wimpy almost Partridge-esqe song writing clearly indicates that Wenzday had their sights set on the teenage girl demographic of southern Ontario Canada.Outside of maybe one or two barely listenable songs, the rest is really quite bad.Prior to the release of this album, Wenzday were known as Wednesday, for which there's also a separate band heading here at Discogs...see Wednesday(3). I actually didn't mind the debut LP (1974) while under the Wednesday moniker. Sadly I still have memories of seeing these guys live in Toronto during the late 70's, by which time they oozed cheese."Nearly Made It" is an overstatement...yet fitting just the same.
