Aja (/ˈeɪʒə/, pronounced like Asia) is the 6th album by jazz rock titans Steely Dan. 5 in the United Kingdom, it was.

Upon first listen, it may be difficult to actually pin down why Aja is considered to rank among the best albums that the legendary decade of the 1970's has produced

A coolly textured and immaculately produced collection of sophisticated jazz-rock, Aja has none of the overt cynicism or self-consciously challenging music that distinguished previous Steely Dan records. Instead, it's a measured and textured album, filled with subtle melodies and accomplished, jazzy solos that blend easily into the lush instrumental backdrops. But Aja isn't just about texture, since Becker and Fagen's songs are their most complex and musically rich set of songs - even the simplest song, the sunny pop of "Peg," has layers of jazzy vocal harmonies

Steely Dan. Released September 23, 1977. Jazzwax: What haven’t you ever told anyone before about the album Aja? Donald Fagen: Wow. Well, I know that halfway through we decided we wanted to go back to NY and do some tracks with some of the people we knew in the city. We felt that although there were great musicians in . we were missing a little bit of soul from the days we were doing New York sessions. Half the album was done in . and half was done in New York. We brought Larry Carlton back with us to New York to supervise. Other than Larry, we used New York players. It gave the album soul. We were able to use Paul Griffin and.

Aja is a music studio album recording by STEELY DAN (Jazz ive Rock) released in 1977 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. The music is unmistakably Steely Dan but the technical level and the jazzy approach is a bit more obvious on Aja than it has been on any other of the preceding Steely Dan albums.
