It was their first album on MCA Records. It was also their first album without manager/producer Maurice Starr who would depart from the group during the making of the album after the group accused him of stealing their monetary earnings from their platinum debut

CRC also released a full-color jacket version with CRC printed on the back of the jacket, bottom right. The Matrix run-outs are slightly different, too: A: MCA 4127-1A G1 (looks like G) and B: MCA-4128-1A D G1() A3.

The group reached its height of popularity during the 1980s. They were the progenitors of the boy band movement of the 1980s and 1990s and led the way for groups like New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. At the height of their early popularity in 1983, the group consisted of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ralph Tresvant. Early hits included songs like 1983's "Candy Girl" and 1984's "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man". Brown left in late 1985 to embark on a successful solo career. The group continued for a time with four members, but eventually recruited singer Johnny Gill to record their 1988 album Heart Break. The group went on hiatus in 1990, while its various members worked on side projects, such as the group Bell Biv.

The group’s self-titled, second studio album including hits like Cool It Now and Mr. Telephone Man was their first album to be released on MCA Records. The album got an expanded re-release including 6 remixes and 2 singles Gold Mine and Peer Pressure. Producers Bobby Hart, Dick Eastman, Michael Sembello & 7 more. Writers Anne Dudley, Arno Lucas, Bobby Brown & 20 more. Assistant Engineer Dan Matovina, Erik Zobler, Jay Willis & 4 more. Background Vocals Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant & 2 more.

album: "All For Love" (1985). Count Me Out A Little Bit Of Love (Is All It Takes) Sweet Thing With You All The Way Let's Be Friends Kickback Tonight's Your Night Whispers In Bed Who Do You Trust School All For Love. album: "Under The Blue Moon" (1986)

The first single, "Hit Me Off", peaked at number one on the R&B chart and reached number three on the pop chart. Another top ten hit, "I'm Still in Love With You" was released toward years end. Other hits include: "You Don't Have to Worry" and "One More Day"
