The Symphonic Band is Furman's largest concert band and is open to music majors and non-majors. In addition to performing at the spring concert, the Symphonic Band performs at Furman's spring commencement ceremony. The band was founded in 1920 and is one of the oldest organized college bands in the South. In 1987, the band toured Europe as part of Greenville’s Sister City Program, culminating with participation in the Ghet Music Festival in Belgium. Academics Music Bands .
