The Beatles - Love Me Do download album

Love Me Do" is the debut single by the English rock band the Beatles, backed by ". When the single was originally released in the United Kingdom on 5 October 1962, it peaked at number 17. In 1982 it was re-promoted (not re-issued, retaining the same catalogue number) and reached number four. It was released in the United States in 1964, where it became a number one hit.

The Beatles' debut single. Ringo Starr told about the song's importance, "For me that was more important than anything else. That first piece of plastic. You can't believe how great that was.

At the time the Beatles’ Love Me Do was on the UK Singles chart {see next post below}. In 1962 the Empire Theater seated 2,348 patrons and was Britain's largest two-tier auditorium. At the time the quartet's "Love Me Do" was at on the United Kingdom’s Singles chart; a little over a two months later on December 23rd, 1962.

Love Me Do" will always bring back fond memories to most Beatles' fans, but the music is uninteresting. In retrospect, it's amazing how weak 'Introducing the Beatles' (UK's 'Please Please Me') is as the first Beatles' album. Especially considering how powerful their 'Meet the Beatles' is. The Beatles were great from the get-go with 'I Saw Her Standing There', 'Please Please Me', 'Ask Me Why', 'There's a Place'. This single is backed by '.  . Not nearly as fun as the covers the Rolling Stones pull off on their first album release. The contrast of the Beatles' look on 'Introducing the Beatles' and the famous 'Meet the Beatles' shadow photograph is amazing. The Vee-Jay cover shows a very young and almost goofy looking Beatles.

Notes

The main differentiator in this version of the red label issue is the presence of the 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN' text under the Parlophone logo on the label, unlike a similar version where this text is missing.

Please also note the following text alignment differentiators, to help distinguish it from 4 other known variants:

1 - The title 'LOVE ME DO' is right-aligned with the writing credit 'Lennon-McCartney' below it. Other variants have the title centred with the credit.

2 - The 'BEECHWOOD LTD' part of the publishing credit is fully left-aligned with the 'ARDMORE &' part above. Another variant has the 'BEECHWOOD LTD' slightly indented compared to the 'ARDMORE &' above it.

3 - The 'ARDMORE & BEECHWOOD LTD' publishing credit is fully left-aligned with the matrix number '7XCE 17144 45' below it. Another variant has this credit aligned above the 'XC' in the matrix.

4 - The 'R' in the 'RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963' text is aligned below and under the 'C' of the matrix number, '7XCE 17144 45', above it. Another variant has this 'R' aligned below and under the 'XC'.

In January 1963 Parlophone ceased production of its red label design. Consequently original issues of Love Me Do & Please Please Me were the only Beatles singles, released in the '60s in the UK, with these red labels. The red labels included the 45- prefix in the catalogue number, to differentiate from 78 RPM records, even though Parlophone had ceased the production of these by the late '50s.

Certain later reissues, either individually or as part of box sets, exist which reflect the original design but contain noticeable differences.

One such reissue with a picture sleeve can be found here, and a later reissue here.
