Sad Wings of Destiny is the second album by Judas Priest, released in 1976. The cover art for the album, titled Fallen Angels, was illustrated by Patrick Woodroffe. It is best known for introducing the pitchfork-like symbol known as the "Judas Priest Cross," as worn by the angel. Sad Wings of Destiny was Judas Priest's second and final studio record made while under contract with Gull Records, an independent UK company. Despite critical acclaim, the band was struggling financially due to lack of support from the label
Sad Wings of Destiny is the second studio album by the English heavy metal group Judas Priest, released in 1976. It is considered the album on which Judas Priest consolidated their sound and image, and songs from it such as "Victim of Changes" and "The Ripper" have since become live standards. It is the only album to feature drummer Alan Moore.
Sad Wings of Destiny’s Judas Priest was: - Robert Halford ~ Vocals - . Downing ~ Lead Guitar - Glenn Tipton ~ Lead Guitar, Piano - Ian Hill ~ Bass Guitar - Alan Moore ~ Drums. First of all, the tracks earlier omitted by Bain are a blessing for the album, and are all highlights. They might have spiced up Rocka Rolla, but they’re doing even better here, and combine nicely with the style that is heard here. Sad Wings of Destiny is darker and sometimes slightly creepy, yet it’s also serene in parts.
Sad Wings of Destiny is the second album by Judas Priest, released on 23 March 1976. It’s considered by fans of the genre as one of their best works (or the best), and a classic in heavy metal music. In this album, Judas Priest consolidated their sound as a heavy metal band, instead of the most hard rock sound in Rocka Rolla. Not only that, but they created an undeniable masterpiece. Perhaps none was quite as important as Judas Priest's sophomore effort, Sad Wings of Destiny, which simultaneously took heavy metal to new depths of darkness and new heights of technical precision. Building on the hard prog of bands like Queen and Wishbone Ash, plus the twin-guitar innovations of the latter and Thin Lizzy, Sad Wings fused these new influences with the gothic doom of Black Sabbath, the classical precision of Deep Purple, and the tight riffery of the more compact Led Zeppelin tunes
