Black Sabbath Featuring Tony Iommi - Seventh Star download album

Seventh Star" was intended to be a Tony Iommi solo album. However, the record company wanted the album released under the Black Sabbath moniker. A compromise was reached and the record was billed as "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi". When the band went on tour, they dropped "Featuring Tony Iommi" from their name and Iommi continued releasing new studio albums under the Black Sabbath name through 1995. The album was officially released on CD in the United States for the first time in 2013.

Seventh Star is the 12th studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath. Released in January 1986, it features musicians Geoff Nicholls, Eric Singer, and Dave Spitz, playing keyboards, drums, and bass, respectively, and Glenn Hughes, ex-Deep Purple bassist and vocalist, as lead singer. The album was the group's first release without bassist Geezer Butler, who left the band in 1984 after the Born Again tour. It was originally written, recorded, and intended to be the first solo album by Iommi

Black Sabbath survived the Seventh Star debacle, but just barely. Ray Gillen left the band during pre-production for the next album, Iommi cleaned house yet again and assembled yet another all new Sabbath lineup fronted by vocalist Tony Martin, who completed the vocals on 1987's The Eternal Idol. Martin remained in the Sabbath camp for four more studio albums (89's Headless Cross, 90's Tyr, 1994's Cross Purposes and 95's Forbidden ) and one live disc (1995's Cross Purposes Live box set), making him the vocalist with the second longest tenure in the band, right.

Record company pressure forced Iommi to call it a Black Sabbath album, hence the official name of the band on this album being Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi. The featuring part was dropped when they went on tour, however. As of 2011, this album has never been formally released on CD in North America by Warner Bros. This is a cool video interview with Tony Iommi from 1986 talking about what happened inbetween Born Again, Seventh Star, why Glenn Hughes didn’t work out. Good video. Please let me know if it’s not working.

In January 1986, one of heavy metal's greatest architects, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, unveiled what had been meant to be his first solo album, Seventh Star. Except pressure from his record company ultimately saw the LP branded as a yet another Sabbath release ("Black Sabbath Featuring Tony Iommi," to be precise), and it would go down as one of metal's most misunderstood and unfairly maligned albums.
