The Moiseyev Dance Ensemble is one of the premiere dance organizations to have originated in Russia. The dancers are remarkable and their musical interpretations unbelievable. Also love the music, which is full of heart and spirit. The sound quality of the music was fairly good, but was recorded in the early 90s. I'd strongly recommend the cd if you'd seen the group's live performance, which is superb. The music is great just by itself too.

The Moiseyev Dance Company turns 80 this year but is still going strong. Seeing the number 80 on this season's posters for the Igor Moiseyev Folk Dance Ensemble is almost confusing. The ensemble, which was founded 80 years ago, feels like an institution, one that has been around forever - almost like the Bolshoi Theater or the Hermitage Museum. Performance of the Moiseyev ballet. In Russian history, the year 1937 has become synonymous with the worst mass repressions of the Soviet period.
The Moiseyev Dance Ensemble is considered by some to be Russia’s greatest theatrical folk dance company. Formed in 1937 by Igor Aleksandrovich Moiseyev, the ensemble served as a cultural ambassador for the Soviet Union; in 1958, it performed to acclaim in the United States. This album, recorded under the personal supervision of Igor Moiseyev, comprises 12 tracks of musical interpretations of folk dance music by Orchestra of the Moiseyev Dance Ensemble.
