New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies download album

The album features more electronic tracks than their 1981 debut Movement, with heavier use of synthesisers. It was included in the top 100 albums of the 1980s lists in both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork Media. The title of the album was chosen by Bernard Sumner from a 1981 conceptual art exhibition in Cologne, Germany.

With its electronic-based sound it marks the definitive turning away from the rather gloomy predecessor and the Joy Division legacy. The album was included in the top 100 albums of the 1980s lists in the Rolling Stone magazine. The inner sleeve features a reproduction of the painting "A Basket of Roses" by French artist Henri Fantin-Latour, found by Saville on a postcard bought at the National Gallery. His then girlfriend Martha Ladly (of Martha & The Muffins) asked him if he was going to use it for the cover and he then realised it was indeed a great idea.

Power, Corruption and Lies. Released May 2, 1983. Power, Corruption and Lies Tracklist. 1. Age of Consent Lyrics. Power, Corruption & Lies (Ft. Peter Saville) Lyrics. About Power, Corruption and Lies. Taking a huge cleanup after the goth power of Movement, Power, Corruption, and Lies tells us through it’s minimalistic pile of roses that looks can be deceiving. While Blue Monday was only on the American version, the biggest-selling 12" single wasn’t just noticeable here. Ecstasy points to reminiscence of Joy Division and the drug itself, while 5 8 6 starts slow but quickly gains momentum. Leave Me Alone has borrowed again from Joy Division’s Transmission, while.

The album achieved more widespread popularity than any of the band's previous releases, including those of previous band Joy Division. In 1989, it was ranked on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s.

When you're asked what your favourite album is, do you pick something impressive to show how smart you are? Or perhaps you plump for a record full of poetry, that says lots about your deeply interesting personality. I always go for a record I reach for whatever the mood or weather, full of naive, off-key vocals, keyboards riffs that wear their influences heavily, whose best song culminates in the lyric: "I caught you at a bad time/ So why don't you piss off?" Power, Corruption & Lies was released in May 1983

In contrast, to the singles Blue Monday and Confusion, which were released around the same time in 1983, the electronic songs on ‘Power, Corruption & Lies’ have a slightly slower tempo, as if to partition them for home listening
