The Clash - Cut The Crap download album

Cut the Crap is the sixth and final studio album by the English punk band the Clash, released on 4 November 1985 by Epic Records. It was recorded in Munich, Germany, after Mick Jones, the Clash’s co-founder, lead guitarist and principal songwriter, and drummer Topper Headon were fired by vocalist Joe Strummer and bassist Paul Simonon. Their manager Bernie Rhodes recruited then-unknown guitarists Vince White and Nick Sheppard, along with drummer Pete Howard, as stand-ins for Jones and Headon.

To pan Cut The Crap in its entirety would be the easiest thing to do as the songs are sub-standard, with very little let up. In fact, it is odd that the band claim 'We are The Clash' even though after listening to the record even the most die-hard Clash fan would have to concede that they are blatantly not, and will wonder if this would have been the resulting album had Mick Jones not been fired. However, there are a few letups amongst the main. Dictator' starts the album off promisingly enough with a nice vocal hook, before descending into an annoying disco-punk tune. Well, they certainly did cut the crap with this one. They cut a whole album worth of it. This Is England is the best song on a bad album, I agree. But not one of the Clash's best, IMO. It just sounds that way next to all the poo.

Hoping to keep the Clash as a raw punk phenomenon, Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon kicked Mick Jones out of the band following the success of Combat Rock, hiring three unknowns (Nick Sheppard, Pete Howard, and Vince White) to replace him for Cut the Crap.

Reviews about The Clash - Cut The Crap (5):
Prince Persie
When Mick Jones got hold of a copy of this album in 85, he must've laughed and laughed. Or else cried. In a situation like this with any band, it's so obvious how hugely important members are...when they're not present and there's such a vast qualitative void left in their place. This album sucks.
Cobyno
actually the songs on this album are good. Listen to any live recording of the clash in this period or the actual real demos of these songs. It was Bernie Rhodes who messed it all up by recording it in Munich and trying to "modernize" it with all the shit production tricks etc. He took decent songs and destroyed them and he eventually destroyed the band.

My copy comes with a sticker (featuring: "We are the clash" (+ 3 more song titles) ) on the shrink.
Dozilkree
lujo, muy bueno, banda legendaria, marco toda una epoca, a full
Nalmetus
What really kills this record is the terrible 80's production. WOOF.
