Follow Phill Most Chill to never miss another show. When my album "All Cuts Recorded Raw" (unreleased songs from the late 80's) was put out on DWG Records in 2011, one of the questions I was asked was "wow, so why didn't you 'make it' back then?" This mix is pretty much the answer. The emcees you hear on this mix are some of the greatest in Hip Hop history- KRS One, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Slick Rick, Biz Markie, LL Cool J, Run DMC.

Beastie Boys "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2" gatefold double LP with a "bonus" 7" (i.e. a commercial "bundle") came out exactly the same day in the UK and cost £2 more (at online spots in the UK).If you compare the two products, really there is no discernable difference at what was offered, despite the massive difference in "marketing budgets" and really "marketing budgets" is the key;If DWG had as much to spend on promotion as Capitol records, PMC's album "could" have sold 10 times as much; its a pity they can't do that, as honestly, this is one of the best albums I've heard; PMC deserves to have made it big before now....

First time I've seen all these comments. It seems to me that people have lost sight of the fact that the black vinyl release of this LP was sold at a price of £20. A major label double vinyl gatefold new release in the UK will set you back at least £15, so given that we were very close to 'regular pricing' for this release why on earth people are still moaning about the pricing I have no idea. To put it into context the first PMC EP we did was £50 for 2 tracks (plus instrumentals and a crusty acetate track)... the PMC LP was £20 for 12 full length tracks plus interludes... that's a petty massive reduction in pricing if you look at it on a per track basis... As for numbers, we pressed the numbers we did (500 in total) because we thought that was where the market capacity was, that's quite a lot for a small label like ourselves and an artist like Phill, the black vinyl pressing was not intentionally 'limited'. Once it sold out we received requests from a few people to press up some more of the black vinyl pressing but the minimum press run for a gatefold sleeve is 500 copies and we probably could have sold another 50 at best so pressing another 500 was never an option. Sorry if you missed out but complaining about the 'pricing' or the 'limited' nature of this release seems misguided at best and somewhat naive too.

ok i realise ive commented on the bundle package...but i still think that the regular vinyl dwg pressings should be at a reasonable price for all hip hop heads young and old..like you im an 80s head and cds will always be a second rate format if a vinyl edition exists or unless its a mix.

Evil-Ed, what sucks is that they sell out before anyone other than DWG forum heads can put in a pre-order. THAT is what bugs me. I understand the collector's market and all. Still, even if I was a DWG forum member, it would be pretty hard to get my own copy. There are other people besides forum heads that want this.

yeah, that is what bugged me to begin with, you had to be on the forum, but also not just on the forum, also quick on the ball with the order to, especially for the coloured wax, that's what bugged me about the tragedy vinyl, especially knowing people had multiple copies of it and some had none, but now I think just let it run, it's only a record, there's plenty more great records out there, gone are my days or scrabbling around after limted releases, if I see it I'll grab it, if it's gone I can't get mad! It's stamp collecting, but there's a moral level to it because someone's art is involved, I can see both sides of the argument.
